History(s) is/are very important to every Nations, Communities, Tribes or Ethnic group of peoples. India has its history, so do the Americans. Nobody can change history.
Nevertheless, attempts are always made to twist or distort the history and attempts are always made to paint white into black and vice-versa. Attempts are also always made to convey the impression that certain events and historical facts never occurred. This is something people across the world are grappling with and would probably continue grappling till the end of time.
In the history of human civilisation, Dominant forces usually grapple to exploit the weaker sections of the people. The same can be applied in the case of the Meiteis relation with Nagas living in Manipur. The Nagas of Manipur are facing the challenge of perceptions and perspective attempts to re-define the composition of history by the Meiteis.
Dominant forces means economic and political power and also as much as military and muscle power. The human mind and heart have always been the battleground for dominant forces in any society and we can see that happening everywhere.
On the other hand, everyone has a right to dissent in democratic society. However, unfortunately, not everyone respects others' right to dissent so the seed of conflict is sown when such a right of others is not respected.
All human beings are created differently but were create to live harmoniously. Therefore, we must respect each other as history once made cannot be changed.
